Evgeny P. Rybin

Senior Researcher

Ph.D. – Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography SB RAS, Novosibirsk, 1997 (Archaeology). Senior researcher of Department of Archaeology of Stone Age in the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Rybin has been Principal Investigator of projects investigating Upper Paleolithic sites in Northern Mongolia since 2014. Being a member of the Russian-Mongolian-American team, he studied the Tolbor-4 site in 2004-2006 and Kharganyn Gol-5 in 2014. Since 2015 he has excavated the Tolbor-21 site in collaboration with Nicolas Zwyns. Evgeny is a lead investigator of the Kara-Bom site in the Altai Mountains of Siberia and he has worked at Paleolithic sites throughout Siberia and Central Asia. His research interests include the laminar Initial Upper Paleolithic, Middle-Upper Paleolithic transition, lithic technology, and the Pleistocene peopling of Eurasia with special emphasis on the Altai and Transbaikal regions, Mongolia, the Chinese Ordos region, and Xinjiang.
